Lot 251 Robert Fulton
American inventor, engineer, and entrepreneur (1765–1815) best known for designing the first commercially successful steamboat. His other endeavors included a commission from Napoleon that resulted in the first practical submarine, the Nautilus. Ink signature, “Robt. Fulton,” on an off-white slip affixed to a slightly larger card. Double suede matted and framed with an engraved portrait of Fulton (bearing a printed signature) to an overall size of 9.5 x 14.5. Closely trimmed top edge and some scattered light toning and soiling, otherwise fine condition.
